Between December 20, 1968, and October 11, 1969, the killer known as the Zodiac attacked at least seven victims, killing five of them.
The Zodiac operated in the town of Vallejo and in rural Napa County, California, in the northern part of the Bay Area before moving into one of the priciest neighborhoods in San Francisco.
The killer sent multiple communications to the media and the police after the murders, four of which contained coded messages. As of today, only two of the four ciphers have been broken.
Despite one of the largest manhunts in California history, the elusive killer was never found. Fifty five years later, the world is still fascinated with the identity of the killer who called himself The Zodiac.
